Low-mass mini-turret lugs, triple-flanged hoops, and True Pitch tension rods ensure excellent tuning precision while preserving maximum shell resonance. With features this refined and reliable, it’s remarkable that the Design Series represents DW’s entry-level shell pack.

8-Ply Maple Shell Construction

Few tonewoods rival the classic sound of maple. The Design Series shells provide a warm foundational tone with outstanding definition and punch, allowing them to sit perfectly in both live and studio mixes. Maple’s natural responsiveness also captures subtle playing nuances without sacrificing projection or presence.

Each shell is built with DW’s exclusive HVLT alternating grain process, ensuring strength, tonal clarity, and consistent resonance across the entire kit.

To further enhance performance, DW incorporates 45-degree bearing edges on the toms and 60-degree bearing edges on the bass drum.

• 45° tom edges provide balanced head response and excellent energy transfer.

• 60° bass drum edges increase punch and low-end presence for a powerful, authoritative backbeat.
